¿Como han estado familia?
Hey family(: I hope all is well back home and that you aren't freezing
like we are here hahaha! I actually love the cold, but trust me, with
80% humidity, it is bitter. Luckily, it's not that humid right now.
Anyways, I bet you are all wondering about transfers!
Here are the results:
I am leaving my birth place (Carpentersville) :'(
I will be transferred to Arlington Heights and my new companion will
be Elder Hughes. I am actually really excited! Arlington Heights is
the closest that the mission gets to downtown Chicago and I will be
able to see the skyline from my new area. O'Hare Airport is in my area
as well which is exciting! I have also heard that their Spanish branch
is awesome down there, I'm stoked! Elder Hughes is the District Leader
down there and I will be blessed to learn a lot from him I'm sure. He
actually was Elder Sorenson's companion in the MTC and he always told
me great stories about Elder Hughes. Transfers are tomorrow, so next
week I will fill you in more!
This week has been really cool! I wish I could explain everything that
happens in each part of my week, but that would be impossible.
One cool story: We some how magically got an appointment with this
less active Hermana in our area. She hasn't been coming to church for
almost 3 years, but when we knocked she answered and let us in.
Hermano Catalino came with us as well, he is a stud at helping people
recognize that they are loved and missed. We sat down and started
having a conversation and talking about how she has been ect. it went
pretty normally. She answered nicely, and she actually remembered some
of her favorite parts of the Book of Mormon which was incredibly rare
haha! But for the most part, the lesson seemed like it wasn't really
catching on. As we were about to leave, reminding her that we were at
her disposal whenever she needed anything, the Spirit told me
piercingly clear that I should bring up Priesthood blessings. We have
been really blessed to be able to use our priesthood this week in
blessings, and that night we were actually on our way to give a child
a blessing. So I brought up the fact that if she ever needed a
blessing we would always be there for her. She suddenly started to
cry. She explained that she had a friend at work that is suffering
badly from disease and heartache from family problems. Through tears
she asked if we would give her friend a blessing. It is really cool to
know that the Lord knows us perfectly. He knows what we need and how
we feel. I am grateful for a Heavenly Father who is interested in the
details of our lives.
I am also infinitely grateful for the restoration of the authority of
God - Priesthood Power. Worthy men in the Church of Jesus Christ have
the gift of being able to serve their wives, children, and families
under the direction of God. The priesthood of God is one of the
greatest gifts the world has been given, so if you are a priesthood
holder listen up:
Don't sell yourself short.
Be worthy and ready to access the priesthood at any moment. There is
nothing, I repeat, NOTHING greater that you can give your families
(current or future) than to live up to your calling in the priesthood.
You are called to be men, so be one. For your family's sake. If you
aren't as worthy as you'd like to be, repent. Change. It can be done.
I have seen it happen many times.
Women: I think you all already know that you are simply, just better
than men in general. So please recognize that, and expect the best out
of the men in your life. You truly are worth being treated like a
queen, so never forget that. Please don't forfeit what you are, which
is a choice daughter of the Eternal Father. Be the best you can be,
and expect the best in return.
If this letter sounds arrogant I don't apologize.
I mean every words.
Also, I don't have enough time to review and edit it haha!
Have a wonderful week family, I hope that you feel the love I have for
each of you!
Con Amor,
